a little local history

Sunday morning's walk, amidst the families plus or minus a mum, took us up on Hawkcraig Cliff, which to me forms the boundary between easter and wester villages on the seaward side.

The cliff itself gives a great viewpoint looking at all points around the village.
It's also the site of some First World War history - HMS Tarlair - where early hydrophone research was conducted in a joint collaboration between the navy and civilian scientists.
You can learn more about it in this clip from the BBC.
